Hey there, I’m Andrea
…a writer and registered psychotherapist in Toronto, Ontario.
My love of words began in childhood when I would hide under the covers with my flashlight and a juicy mystery novel. I was fascinated by the power of the written word to transport me to different worlds, and to entertain thoughts and emotions that were not originally my own.
As an adult, my love of words has led me to write about the intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, and gender. It is no accident that I am a Nigerian-Canadian woman. God has intentionally given me this identity to reflect the beauty and complexity of His good creation. I pray my words will encourage and challenge you to revel in the beauty of your God-given identity.
When I’m not writing, you can find me going on long walks, watching Korean Dramas or belting out 90s R&B classics.
“The ability of writers to imagine what is not the self, to familiarize the strange and mystify the familiar, is the test of their power.”
—Toni Morrison, "Black Matters" in Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination (1992)
